Ready mix concrete

In India concrete is produced by conventional methods in most of the construction sites. From the experience it has shown many shortcomings such as:

  • Quality assurance not guaranteed.
  • Inadequate control on aggregates for size.shape and grading.
  • Optimum Water-cement ratio not followed.
  • Labour intensive.
  • Requires large space for storage of aggregates and cement.
  • Time consuming operation.
  • Wastage of costly input materials.
  • Noise and dust pollution.

WHAT IS RMC

In order to usher in modernization and development of the construction industry,
industrialisation of concrete is necessary.RMC is one such technology.

As per IS 4926-1976 "Ready mixed concrete is a CONCRETE delivered at site or into the purchasers' vehicle in a plastic condition and requiring no further treatment before being placed in a position in which it is to be set and hardened".Ready mixed concrete is a high quality concrete of required grade produced under strictly controlled conditions in a Centralised automatic batching plant and supplied to the customers in transit mixers for placement in the structure.

All the constituents of RMC undergo stringent quality control process carried out by qualified and experienced personnel in the laboratories before the product is batched and sent for placement in the structure through special pumps.

HOW DOES RMC Score Over Conventional Mixing?

Considering the various hidden costs associated with conventional mixing,RMC is a better alternative to the conventional mixing due to following factors:

Our COROMANDEL RMC plant is set up at Thirumudivakkam near Thiruneermalai in the suburbs of Chennai. The plant is equipped with the state-of-the-art technology package comprising of automatic batching plant, transit mixers, concrete pumps and fully equipped laboratory manned by the best in the industry.

QUALITY CONTROL

The nerve and brain of our RMC plants is the quality control lab equipped with sophisticated instruments and manned by trained and widely experienced personnel.The quality is monitored at every stage, right from receipt of raw material to despatch and placing of concrete, which ensures that consistent quality reaches the customer.
The following tests are conducted for quality assurance

  • Cement: Water consistency, IST/FST, Compressive strength and Chemical analysis.
  • Fine Aggregates: Sieve analysis, Silt test, Specific gravity/Density, Moisture absorption test and Chemical analysis.
  • Coarse aggregates: Sieve analysis,Crushing value, Abrasion value, Specific gravity/Density and Chemical analysis.
  • Water: Chemical analysis.
  • Concrete: Workability, Compressive Strength.
